Tsumiki

Unit Shelf | MIlan Design Week, Italy | 2019

“Tsumiki” means “stacking-wood” in Japanese. The product was originally designed for Miyakonojo City Library in 2018. The library was a renovation project, in which former shopping mall converted into public library. We developed a bookshelf that allows flexible arrangement in order to fit for the frequent layout change of the library.

The large, medium, and small three-sized wooden box can be attached and arranged freely by users with its flexible slit and wedge joint system. Each box can be used in four ways: shelf, stand, basket, tray simply by changing the direction of the box itself.

"Tsumiki" was exhibited in the Milan Design Week 2019.
